Al-Mumtaĥanah She that is to be examined

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوِّي وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءَ تُلْقُونَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِمَا جَاءَكُمْ مِنَ الْحَقِّ يُخْرِجُونَ الرَّسُولَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۙ أَنْ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ رَبِّكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيلِي وَابْتِغَاءَ مَرْضَاتِي ۚ تُسِرُّونَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِمَا أَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْهُ مِنْكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَاءَ السَّبِيلِ 1 
Translation
O you who believe (Do) not take My enemies and your enemies (as) allies offering them love while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah your Lord If you come forth (to) strive in My way and (to) seek My Pleasure You confide to them love but I Am most knowing of what you conceal and what you declare And whoever does it among you then certainly he has strayed (from the) straight path
Transliteration
YYā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Tattakhidhū `Adūwī Wa `Adūwakum 'Awliyā'a Tulqūna 'Ilayhim Bil-Mawaddati Wa Qad Kafarū Bimā Jā'akum Mina Al-Ĥaqqi Yukhrijūna Ar-Rasūla Wa 'Īyākum 'An Tu'uminū Billāhi Rabbikum 'In Kuntum Kharajtum Jihādāan Fī Sabīlī Wa Abtighā'a Marđātī Tusirrūna 'Ilayhim Bil-Mawaddati Wa 'Anā 'A`lamu Bimā 'Akhfaytum Wa Mā 'A`lantum Wa Man Yaf`alhu Minkum Faqad Đalla Sawā'a As-Sabīli
إِنْ يَثْقَفُوكُمْ يَكُونُوا لَكُمْ أَعْدَاءً وَيَبْسُطُوا إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَأَلْسِنَتَهُمْ بِالسُّوءِ وَوَدُّوا لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَ 2 
Translation
If they gain dominance over you they would be to you enemies and extend against you their hands and their tongues with evil and they desire that you would disbelieve
Transliteration
'In Yathqafūkum Yakūnū Lakum 'A`dā'an Wa Yabsuţū 'Ilaykum 'Aydiyahum Wa 'Alsinatahum Bis-Sū'i Wa Waddū Law Takfurūna
لَنْ تَنْفَعَكُمْ أَرْحَامُكُمْ وَلَا أَوْلَادُكُمْ ۚ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ 3 
Translation
Never will benefit you your relatives and not your children (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection He will judge between you And Allah of what you do (is) All-Seer
Transliteration
Lan Tanfa`akum 'Arĥāmukum Wa Lā 'Awlādukum Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Yafşilu Baynakum Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun
قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ إِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَآءُ مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ إِلَّا قَوْلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ لَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَا أَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۖ رَبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ 4 
Translation
Indeed (there) is for you an example good in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people Indeed, we (are) disassociated from you and from what you worship from besides Allah We have denied you and has appeared between us and between you enmity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah Alone Except (the) saying (of) Ibrahim to his father Surely I ask forgiveness for you but not I have power for you from Allah of anything Our Lord upon You we put our trust and to You we turn and to You (is) the final return
Transliteration
QQad Kānat Lakum 'Uswatun Ĥasanatun Fī 'Ibrāhīma Wa Al-Ladhīna Ma`ahu 'Idh Qālū Liqawmihim 'Innā Bura'ā'u Minkum Wa Mimmā Ta`budūna Min Dūni Allāhi Kafarnā Bikum Wa Badā Baynanā Wa Baynakumu Al-`Adāwatu Wa Al-Baghđā'u 'Abadāan Ĥattá Tu'uminū Billāhi Waĥdahu 'Illā Qawla 'Ibrāhīma Li'abīhi La'astaghfiranna Laka Wa Mā 'Amliku Laka Mina Allāhi Min Shay'in Rabbanā `Alayka Tawakkalnā Wa 'Ilayka 'Anabnā Wa 'Ilayka Al-Maşīru
رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ 5 
Translation
Our Lord (do) not make us a trial for those who disbelieve and forgive us our Lord Indeed You [You] (are) the All-Mighty the All-Wise
Transliteration
Rabbanā Lā Taj`alnā Fitnatan Lilladhīna Kafarū Wa Aghfir Lanā Rabbanā 'Innaka 'Anta Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِيهِمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ 6 
Translation
Certainly (there) is for you in them an example good for (he) who is hopeful (in) Allah and the Day the Last And whoever turns away then indeed Allah He (is) Free of need the Praiseworthy
Transliteration
LLaqad Kāna Lakum Fīhim 'Uswatun Ĥasanatun Liman Kāna Yarjū Allāha Wa Al-Yawma Al-'Ākhira Wa Man Yatawalla Fa'inna Allāha Huwa Al-Ghanīyu Al-Ĥamīdu
۞ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ مَوَدَّةً ۚ وَاللَّهُ قَدِيرٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ 7 
Translation
Perhaps Allah [that] will put between you and between those (to) whom you have been enemies among them love And Allah (is) All-Powerful And Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful
Transliteration
`Asá Allāhu 'An Yaj`ala Baynakum Wa Bayna Al-Ladhīna `Ādaytum Minhum Mawaddatan Wa Allāhu Qadīrun Wa Allāhu Ghafūrun Raĥīmun
لَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ أَنْ تَبَرُّوهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوا إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ 8 
Translation
Not (does) forbid you Allah from those who (do) not fight you in the religion and (do) not drive you out of your homes that you deal kindly and deal justly with them Indeed Allah loves those who act justly
Transliteration
Lā Yanhākumu Allāhu `Ani Al-Ladhīna Lam Yuqātilūkum Fī Ad-Dīni Wa Lam Yukhrijūkum Min Diyārikum 'An Tabarrūhum Wa Tuqsiţū 'Ilayhim 'Inna Allāha Yuĥibbu Al-Muqsiţīna
إِنَّمَا يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ وَأَخْرَجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلَىٰ إِخْرَاجِكُمْ أَنْ تَوَلَّوْهُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ 9 
Translation
Only forbids you Allah from those who fight you in the religion and drive you out of your homes and support in your expulsion that you make them allies And whoever makes them allies then those [they] (are) the wrongdoers
Transliteration
'Innamā Yanhākumu Allāhu `Ani Al-Ladhīna Qātalūkum Fī Ad-Dīni Wa 'Akhrajūkum Min Diyārikum Wa Žāharū `Alá 'Ikhrājikum 'An Tawallawhum Wa Man Yatawallahum Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Až-Žālimūna
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا جَاءَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ فَامْتَحِنُوهُنَّ ۖ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَانِهِنَّ ۖ فَإِنْ عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ مُؤْمِنَاتٍ فَلَا تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ إِلَى الْكُفَّارِ ۖ لَا هُنَّ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحِلُّونَ لَهُنَّ ۖ وَآتُوهُمْ مَا أَنْفَقُوا ۚ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ إِذَا آتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ ۚ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوا بِعِصَمِ الْكَوَافِرِ وَاسْأَلُوا مَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ وَلْيَسْأَلُوا مَا أَنْفَقُوا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ حُكْمُ اللَّهِ ۖ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ 10 
Translation
O you who believe When come to you the believing women (as) emigrants then examine them Allah (is) most knowing of their faith And if you know them (to be) believers then (do) not return them to the disbelievers Not they (are) lawful for them and not they are lawful for them But give them what they have spent And not any blame upon you if you marry them when you have given them their (bridal) dues And (do) not hold to marriage bonds (with) disbelieving women but ask (for) what you have spent and let them ask what they have spent That (is the) Judgment (of) Allah He judges between you And Allah (is) All-Knowing All-Wise
Transliteration
YYā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Jā'akumu Al-Mu'uminātu Muhājirātin Fāmtaĥinūhunna Allāhu 'A`lamu Bi'īmānihinna Fa'in `Alimtumūhunna Mu'uminātin Falā Tarji`ūhunna 'Ilá Al-Kuffāri Lā Hunna Ĥillun Lahum Wa Lā Hum Yaĥillūna Lahunna Wa 'Ātūhum Mā 'Anfaqū Wa Lā Junāĥa `Alaykum 'An Tankiĥūhunna 'Idhā 'Ātaytumūhunna 'Ujūrahunna Wa Lā Tumsikū Bi`işami Al-Kawāfiri Wa As'alū Mā 'Anfaqtum Wa Līas'alū Mā 'Anfaqū Dhālikum Ĥukmu Allāhi Yaĥkumu Baynakum Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Ĥakīmun
وَإِنْ فَاتَكُمْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ إِلَى الْكُفَّارِ فَعَاقَبْتُمْ فَآتُوا الَّذِينَ ذَهَبَتْ أَزْوَاجُهُمْ مِثْلَ مَا أَنْفَقُوا ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَنْتُمْ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ 11 
Translation
And if have gone from you any of your wives to the disbelievers then your turn comes then give (to) those who have gone their wives (the) like (of) what they had spent And fear Allah (in) Whom you [in Him] (are) believers
Transliteration
Wa 'In Fātakum Shay'un Min 'Azwājikum 'Ilá Al-Kuffāri Fa`āqabtum Fa'ātū Al-Ladhīna Dhahabat 'Azwājuhum Mithla Mā 'Anfaqū Wa Attaqū Allāha Al-Ladhī 'Antum Bihi Mu'uminūna
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ لَا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا يَزْنِينَ وَلَا يَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَادَهُنَّ وَلَا يَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتَانٍ يَفْتَرِينَهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِنَّ وَأَرْجُلِهِنَّ وَلَا يَعْصِينَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ ۙ فَبَايِعْهُنَّ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُنَّ اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ 12 
Translation
O Prophet When come to you the believing women pledging to you [on] that not they will associate with Allah anything and not they will steal and not they will commit adultery and not they will kill their children and not they bring slander they invent it between their hands and their feet and not they will disobey you in (the) right then accept their pledge and ask forgiveness for them (from) Allah Indeed Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful
Transliteration
YYā 'Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu 'Idhā Jā'aka Al-Mu'uminātu Yubāyi`naka `Alá 'An Lā Yushrikna Billāhi Shay'āan Wa Lā Yasriqna Wa Lā Yaznīna Wa Lā Yaqtulna 'Awlādahunna Wa Lā Ya'tīna Bibuhtānin Yaftarīnahu Bayna 'Aydīhinna Wa 'Arjulihinna Wa Lā Ya`şīnaka Fī Ma`rūfin Fabāyi`hunna Wa Astaghfir Lahunna Allāha 'Inna Allāha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَوَلَّوْا قَوْمًا غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ قَدْ يَئِسُوا مِنَ الْآخِرَةِ كَمَا يَئِسَ الْكُفَّارُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْقُبُورِ 13 
Translation
O you who believe (Do) not make allies (of) a people (The) wrath (of) Allah (is) upon them Indeed they despair of the Hereafter as despair the disbelievers of (the) companions (of) the graves
Transliteration
YYā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Lā Tatawallaw Qawmāan Ghađiba Allāhu `Alayhim Qad Ya'isū Mina Al-'Ākhirati Kamā Ya'isa Al-Kuffāru Min 'Aşĥābi Al-Qubūri
